Parque Colon Granada 2006

Parque Colon
Returning to Granada, a a year and a half later I found somethings are timeless like the archecture. but wait... There are some changes:
The Bearded Monkey Hostel is up for sale. EL Tercer Ojo is closed for renovations. There are many more hotels than I remember and in general I just felt llike the city was much busier. Perhaps it is partly the time of year. Definetely more gringos! Atleast you can still escape the street and relax in endless atriums within the colonial buildings. Power and water outages are a daily constant as the system was privatized and is owned by a Spanish Company.
Tunnel on trail around Mombacho

Volcan Mombacho

Take the bus (22 cordobas) to Rivas from Granada 1/2 block from the shell station near the market in Granada. Get off at the road to the entrance to the park. Walk 1.5 km to the park entrance and pay the 150 cordobas which is part park fee and ride in the back of the truck to the parking lot at the top. There is a great view of Granada and the Isletas as well as other interesting spots such as a vent hole.
Granada Market

Granada Streets

I still enjoy just walking around Granada. Granada market is always an interesting place, although it still isn't as good as the market in Masaya.

We stayed at Posada Don Alfredo (1/30/2007) and were robbed. $120 was missing from the safe box. Don denied it, but the more he spoke, the more we were convinced, he had robbed us.
