My flight stopped one night in Amsterdam on my way back from my September 2005 Greece/Turkey trip. I've been to Amsterdam twice before, once during my college days where it was the starting point for student tour of Eastern Europe. The second trip was in 2002, eight months after 9/11.
I used this opportunity for a quick, one night tour. It was a lot cooler and more expensive then Greece and Turkey. One night in Amsterdam cost like 4 or more days in Turkey!
Time was more important for this one night stay so I booked a hotel near the train station. I also checked my luggage to Boston during my Athens check in. It was nice only having a small daypack in Amsterdam.
Check in time for the next day's flight was 4 or more hours before departure and boarding time was 2 hours before. I had no luggage to check and had my boarding pass so I arrived at the airport a lot later then this. Why waste time at the airport when I only had one night in Amsterdam? |
