Chornobylexcursion
Last week I took an excursion in the Chornobyl-area.
Together with my travelfriend, 2 French journalists and a English-speaking guide we had an amazing and impressive tour through the so-called Exclusion Zone.
We visited the reactor (we were standing 100 meters away from it), made a walk through Pripyat (the abandonned city 5 km away from the reactor), visited the site of contaminated vehicles and had a short interview with an old lady, again living in the near surroundings.
It was the most interesting excursion in my life.
More information and lots of pictures: you'll find them on my other website:

Pros and Cons
- Pros:Its amazing
- Cons:the very little danger of getting radiation
- In a nutshell:without a doubt the most interesting tour ever

Interesting pages Jeoren. I hope to visit Chernobyl and Prypiat this year.
Jeoren, interesting little page. I am just back from a trip through the Ukraine. Unfortunately I missed teh Chornobyl museum in Kiev.
Quite an experience, I know a vt'er who does work with some of the children from Belaroos that were affected lost their parents etc, they don't eat fresh veg or fruit
You were very brave or is it foolish to have taken the trip. My brother was a victim of cancer caused by Chernobyl- contamination carried to Scotland the doctors said.
I didn't know it was a tourist destination!!
I moved to the CCCR in `89 and there were many closed towns that weren`t even on the map. I met a doctor who was from there working there early `90`s. Was forbidden to write cause of death or illness radiation! `???
What an amazing experience... Thank you for sharing it with us!
Very helpful info about your tour to Chornobyl!
