"Welcome to Mona Lisa's Backyard" Assisi by Sue08080
Assisi Travel Guide: 212 reviews and 629 photos
Here in Assisi, the home of St Francis, the scene is picture postcard perfect. Starting with the imposing Bascilica di San Francesco, the streets twist and turn up and down the hillside. Cascades of flowers and the smell of flowers fill the air, a feast for the senses.
Assisi is filled with pilgrims celebrating the life of St. Francis and their spirit permeates the town.

Birthday greetings from Alaska!
Since you loved Assisi, I'm sure you would enjoy the Sacred Valley of Rieti also - it is much less commercial - indeed, the steps of St Francis. Hope you come! Ciao, Carol
this little page caught my eye
You certainly picked the perfect hotel for your stay in Assissi - what a great location. Isn't the Basilica something? I'l always remember the incredible atmosphere in the crypt and the awe I felt standing in front of the saint's tomb. leyle
Assisi must have been absolutely beautiful! I loved the vista from the restaurant's terrace...and the snaky little streets.
I can see why you, Jimmy Stewart, Marlene Dietrich, and Charlie Chaplin all felt right at home in Assisi.
Sue, Iwould love to see those Giotto frescoes. Yes, I can see also why St Francis would have loved it.
Have wanted to visit here since learning about St Francis in Primary (Elementary) School. Have really enjoyed visiting with you; wonderful intro, beautiful pics & nicely written tips. Grazie mille e ciao.
I'm glad you, Susan, succeded in scanning your photos and made very intersting Italian pages! Thanks. My Italian tips and pics are waiting its turn since 1996!
