I stayed in a youth hostel (Barnnacles) that was about a half-block from the Temple Bar (the actual Temple Bar) in the Temple Bar area in Dublin.
I went out in Temple Bar on sunday/monday nights, so it was probably more low-key than it would be on a thurs-sat night. I'm from New Orleans, and I was expecting Temple Bar to be Dublin's equilvant to Bourbon Street. However, it was nothing like Bourbon St; it was much cleaner, and less crowded/lively.
Still, I had a great time. There are a ton of great bars in Temple Bar, many with "local" music. Drink and be merry! |
| | Things to do in Dublin There is a lot to do in Dublin, but since we were only there for 2 days we just did the basics. We went to the Guiness Storehouse, Kilmainham Gaol, ChristCathedral and St. Patrick's Cathedral. We also just walked around the city and explored.
We went on a guided city walking tour, which left from Trinity College. Our guide was a bit odd, and quite amusing. The tour took about 2 hrs, and was very informative. It have us a great historical backround of the city, as well as a Irish history lesson.
We also went on the literary pub crawl, which leaves from The Duke pub. The actors who led the tour were very talented, and kept us laughing. I would highly reccomend it! |
