Dera Ismail Khan Travel Guide: 6 reviews and 50 photos

Dera Ismail Khan is siturated on the west bank of River Indus. It is on the boundary of North West Frontier Province & Punjab Province. Therefore have mix culture of both provinces, but besides this it has its own folks and customs.

Dera is the second largest city of NWFP.

GREEN FIELDS, DATE PALMS

I was born in a village BIGWANI, 35 km away from District Dera Ismail Khan. Then we shifted to Karachi. Now we go once in 1-2 years for just few days there. Life in village is very much relaxing and healthy. I enjoy very much there.

Great River Indus passes by Dera City. There are several Picnic Spots on River Bank.

There are great fields and greenry in the district. Date trees are seen every where.

Dera is famous for DATE PALMS, WOODEN FURNITURE WORK, LEATHER WORK & EMBROIDERY.

BILOT FORTE

Dera City has great historical back ground.

Bilot is a great historical place located on Chashma Road about 50 km from Dera City. One can witness the ruins of Forte. Several Hundred years old Temples and Architecure is amazing.

Besides this "Lal Mahra Tomb Complex" is another archiological site on the Proa Road.

I was just wondering since I live in Toronto, and I love DI Khan's Sohan Halwa, is there a way to order this Halwa from DI Khan. Or may if not if I can get recipe somehow so that my mom can cook for me. Thank you.
