Islamabad - The Capital City

by Bokhari76 - last update: Mar 8, 2008

SECRETARIAT, ISLAMABAD
Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan. It is Pakistan's first planned city which was built in 1960s to shift the Capital of Pakistan from Karachi. It offers a healthy climate, pollution free atmosphere, plenty of water and lush green area. It is a modern and carefully planned city with wide tree-lined streets, large houses elegant public buildings and well-organised markets & shopping centres.
The city is divided into eight basic zones 1- Administrative, 2- Diplomatic enclave, 3- Residential areas, 4- Educational sectors, 5- Industrial sectors. 6- Commercial areas, 7- Rural and 8- Green areas. Each sector has its own shopping area and public park.
Blue Area Islamabad
Tourists going to the northern areas of Pakistan or Murree must PASS THROUGH Islamabad. I will suggest them to stay here and see this beautiful and well planned city.

Blue Area is the central shopping district & sky line of Islamabad. At the end of Blue Area starts Constitution Avenue where you can see President house, Parliment House, Prime Minister Secreteriate & Supreme Court Building.
Other attractions are:
Shah Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, Shakar PaRian, Rawal Dam/Lake, Loke Virsa Museum and many more....

The King Faisal mosque, believe it or not, reminds me a bit of some of the new and very large Christian places of worship that can be found in the USA...interesting!
