The capital of the region of Arges Pitesti is situated about 110 km north west of Bucharest.

Easily accessible by car from Bucharest as the country's only Freeway connects the two cities.

Home of one of country's industrial prides the Dacia Automotive Company. Now partially taken over by Renault and producing the French automakers 5000 Euro "world car" the Dacia Logan.

Situated on the fringe of the foothills of the Transsylvanian alps the climate here is a bit more bearable in the summer than in the sweltering Bucharest.

Gateway to Curtea the Arges and the fabled transfagarasani highway and the route through the Olt river pass to Sibiu, Pitesti offers little in the way of sights. But do make a stop anyway and take a strawl down the newly restored main street Strada Victoriei. Have a seat on the terrass of the Italian Icecream bar and watch the young lovers promenading by.
