"My Portland History" Portland by WhiteMughal

My family moved to Portland in 1950. We had lived for almost a decade in Spokane, and our family doubled in size during those years. That made it interesting to shlep everything down to Portland. We rented a small house at 99th and Glisan. Shortly, we moved to a house on Multnomah, right above Sullivan's Gulch (no Banfield). Lived there about a year. Then to 38th and Brazee in the Hollywood district. Stayed there to 1958, then moved down to Westmoreland. That house was sold in 1965, when the family moved to Minnesota. Some of us stayed in Portland for a while.
Upshot of this is that Portland is full of childhood memories for most of my family.Only two family members remain there now, but it has a draw to go back and visit now and then to see old places and also catch up with the many changes to the area. Actually, I've attended way too many funerals there. Now I like to go when everyone is still alive and can be visited.
