Toronto - A City With Ethics

by johngayton - last update: May 9, 2006

Legal prostitution but a take-away beer? Hmmmm!!!

"The Audience"
Everyone I talked to about Toronto told me that I would like it and yes, it is a city which is impossible to dislike. I particularly loved the people I bumped into, friendly without exception. As a city: it is clean, organised, diverse, courteous, visually interesting, accessible, cultural, historical...........pretty much everything a city should be.

Yet to my mind the city lacks something, there is a prissiness, a sterility about the place, a lack of danger perhaps. Toronto is not a city which challenges the visitor, there is no sense of "being elsewhere", of being somewhere foreign.

It is a strange city that carries 4 pages of advertising for "massage and escort services" in the local listings magazine, but trying to get a few beers to take back to the hotel required a major internet search. Well I suppose "beer" isn't good for you and should be made as difficult as possible to obtain. As to a massage or escort, I suppose that's the "healthy" option!!

Pros:"A very safe, friendly city."
Cons:"Too Safe!"
In A Nutshell:"Impossible to dislike, but.........."

I was in Toronto in the winter, I am pretty sure that the city is way more interesting in the summer, I have great friends there though!
