90 Miles of Pacific Scenery The Big Sur region of coastal California sits between San Simeon in the South up to Carmel in the North, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Its only main road is the spectacular Highway 1 which runs its whole distance pretty much hugging the Pacific coastline.
This stretch of road passes some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the US with numerous creeks, coves, beaches and State Parks dotted along the way, most of which are accessible from roadside turnouts. |
