The main problem of course is: I keep bumping into things - lamposts, trees, other people, THUNK, such is life,..but bollards are the worst!!!

I'd rather fall into the canal as that would cause far less tears ;)

Major Hazard No.1 Cycling Review

One of the main problems I have when visiting places is that I want to take in as much as possible in the allotted time. And so I am always looking around me: up, down, left, right - taking in the views, always wanting to find out what's round the next corner.

The result is that I never seem to be looking where I am actually going.

This is further compounded in Amstersdam by...as you can see from the pic!

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the young girls, but there are some very classy women around as well who equally distract my eye...does she really have to cycle round town with a sheer white dress on?

"Girls in white dresses...these are a few of my favourite things".

I'll change that to "Women in white dresses and diaphanous - help me out here - aquamarine(?) - shawls.

Dear Mayor of Amsterdam,

For your next piece of legislation, I propose a dress code for women cyclists. Either that or get rid of all trees, lamposts, bollards (especially!) and just to be on the safe side fill in the canals.

It's only a matter of time before there is going to be a serious fatality.
