Restaurant Name: Chez Allan and Gala ;)

Food doesn't get much better than this!!

Here on Ios, on our last sailing day before heading for Santorini the following morning, Gala and Allan decided to use up all the leftovers in the fridge and I must admit to being extremely impressed with the result!!!

Simplicity is always the best in my book and the true sign of a real cook is to be able to take whatever ingredients and turn out a decent meal with them - HA! In this case a SUPERB meal ;)))

Favorite Dish: Spicy sausage with a great tomato sauce, pasta and salad and that's pretty much it - what more could this foot-weary wanderer ask for? Yamas Guys!!!

Restaurant Name: Aphrodite

Yep, here again the local knowledge came in trumps! This was a great little restaurant, slightly off the main drag and with a menu within a menu. Advertising itself as a "Steak House" the menu makes no mention of the hidden delights tucked away in the fridge under the display cabinet

"Ah John," captain Vassilli says, "You like your fish!" A rapid-fire Greek exchange between Vassilli and the proprietor ensues and I am led to the dim-lit restaurant interior and its attendant, yet empty, display cabinet. The bottom fridge door is opened and within - Ach! I resmile as I remember its contents - a pair of glistening, eyes-open, perfectly formed sea bream (well that's what I call them over here, the Greek name just seems to translate as "flat fish").

Favorite Dish: I seem to have kinda given away the punchline!! When the fish arrived it was perfectly cooked, beautifully fresh and just served simply with a chunk of lemon and some bits - DELISH!!

Moral of the story - Always follow the local advice!!
