Rounding the turn into the bay at Vathi - Nisos Sifnos

Sifnos was our 3rd Island stop and is definitely my favourite for the food - both at lunch (goat stew) and dinner (lobster spaghetti). Thinking about and recalling our day here as I type Sifnos is definitely my favourite of all the Islands during our boat trip. The day began, after a short sail from Serifos, with a swim with the fishes and ended with Greek dancing on the dock with the punctuations of lunch, dinner, hand laundry on the gangplank, a walk along the beach and even my impersonation of "Tarzan"!!! - Great Day :)))

The Island itself is about 80 miles south of Pireaus and whilst definitely on the modern tourist trail is still relatively undeveloped, and on a late May weekday relatively quiet - HA! Until WE arrived!!!

Port, Tavernas and Beach (then Tavernas again!!)

"Dog" At The Beach!

Kamares is the main port but can be quite busy with ferries and so the smaller port of Vathi is more suited for yachts and suited us perfectly with a good selection of tavernas, a decent stretch of beach (including a nudist section) and reasonably warm water for swimming with the fishes.

Pros:Great Food, Great Beach, Great Tavernas!
Cons:Beware of the Ouzo!
In a nutshell:The Ideal of the Idyllic!

This was a great island indeed. Location, food, the beach , everything was perfect! This pic is not from Sifnos, but you did dance here too :)
