One Little Corner | Palisades Dam and Pumping Station |
Travelling south from Hamilton, Montana back to Colorado in the Winter involves choosing a route which will miss out the worst of the potential snow storms as well as Yellowstone National Park where the through roads are closed.
And so unfortunately our journey only took in the little corner of Idaho following US 93, picking up HY 28 just after Salmon taking us South West towards Rexburg. This little corner is obviously Potato Country with the little earth-covered potato barns and irrigation equipment scattered liberally across the lanscape - these seemed so common at the time that I didn't bother taking any photos, awaiting the perfect shot - which never did crop up, so to speak!
Having decided to get as many miles behind us that morning whilst the weather was good it was only as we reached The Palisades Dam and Reservoir that I realised I had pretty much missed Idaho except for the memories of the potato fields and small farmsteads visible from the main road. |
