Madrid can be cold in February and I was (un)lucky enough to see the snow falling on my trip here. But unlike Scotland in the winter, for the most part you will see clear skys with a touch of real warmth when the sun shines.
The city is obviously much quieter at his time of year allowing the visitor to take in the sights without the relentless bustle of tourists.
Madrid has some lovely architecture and the Palacio Real is perhaps one of the most commanding and beautiful buildings in the city. |
| | Campo del Moro The Palacio Real is surrounded by beautiful gardens, boasting pretty flora and fauna and a few peacocks!
Definitely worth a stroll on a nice day, there are a number of paths to take around the gardens. The back of palace stands in the background. |
| | The Great Novel of Spain Don Quixote is a name you cannot avoid when you visit Madrid. The great novel published in Madrid in 1605 is famous the world over despite it's true author remaining a subject of controversy and speculation.
Statues of Don Quixote and his sidekick Sancho Panza can be found in Plaza de Espana. |
