Elle a tout d'une grande ! STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION After adding plovdiv, Rilski Manastery, Pirin & Bansko I'm now adding Sofia bit by bit.....
This used to be the commercial slogan for a french car model in the nineties : Elle a tout d'une grande ! Indeed Sofia has everything to offer like any other major European city. History - with influences of the Greek, Turks, Russian, ... Culture - Opera, ballet, theatre Religion - Orthodox churches (especially the Nevski Cathedral is beautiful) and a synagogue 200m away from a mosquee Football - 4 first league teams (CSKA, Levski, Slavia, Lokomotiv) Architecture - large buildings following old architectural styles, with lots of space around for viewing pleasure Bars , Pubs, Restaurants, Clubs, ... Museums - though you won't find an equivalent of Le Louvre (Paris), Musée d'Orsay (Paris), British Museum (London), Pergamon (Berlin), Hermitage (St Petersburg)
Few tourists hang around , so go & see it while you can still easily dive in the charming atmosphere of this city. |
