I am originally from Malaysian Borneo but now live in Vancouver, Canada.

My life is quite unremarkable, punctuated with sporadic travels that lift up my spirits and make me realize I need to go out more. My kids are the most remarkable part of my life and they are my world.

I can't wait until I "retire" to travel the world. As a mom there is no such thing as retirement(any parent knows that!) Compromise seems to be the order here. Taking a well deserved break from home life refreshes mom and helps the teenagers become more independent.

Years before, I had joined escorted tours and while I found them to do the job well(you get to do all the touristy things), I couldn't linger at will. Also, one has to pay the price for convenience.

Travelling unescorted is challenging - that's why I choose Malaysia( and later, South East Asia) for a start . As far as I am concerned, the whole region is a food paradise, the shopping is a bargain, the cultures are varied, and the sightseeing is good.

Eventually, I hope to add other countries in Asia, South America, Europe and Middle East to my travels.......I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Virtual Tourist has been an invaluable source of information for me.
