Where everything is white and blue...

by JessH - last update: Jun 29, 2005

Deep blue skies... typically Mediterranean!

You've just gotta love the Med...

Aaah, Greece. Where we learnt to eat Tzaziki, to dance the Sirtaki, and where crystal blue skies, an equally crystal blue ocean and bright white buildings dominate the landscape... beautiful!

Friendly people, great food, lovely beaches: Samos is unusual as it has a stone-beach, but I actually quite enjoyed not being covered in sand every time a gust of wind comes off the ocean :-)

Samos is/used to be/sometimes is the greenest of the Greek islands. The reason for my confusing writing style is that for many years, the hoteliers of the surrounding islands regularly made their way to Samos and tried (often with success!) to set the beautiful greenery on fire.
Trusting that Samos' greenery is an advantage over the other islands' dusty and rocky landscapes, burning it came down to pure business sense, I guess...

I haven't been back since my holiday many years ago, but I hope to visit again one day and I hope that the greenery has prevailed.

Pros:"Great weather, lovely people"
Cons:"Prices have increased due to the Euro"
In A Nutshell:"You've just gotta love the Med! Anywhere in the Med!"
