Picture a German village from Grimms fairytales, and you will see Altenahr - it has it all. Typical German buildings, a castle on the hill, mountains, forests, a river winding along the bottom and if you can't manage the walk, there's even a chair lift to the top - if you are brave enough! Plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants, and the local people are very friendly and welcoming. Good public transport links by rail and bus. We enjoyed hot sunny weather throughout our stay (26 - 30C). |

We have just returned from Altenahr, and also found the hotel value for money, it was very clean and the staff very friendly, we stayed in the main hotel, the room was small but o.k, we would certainly stay there again | dsantosh Mon Jun 20, 2005 14:17 UTC
