Turquoise waters, lovely views The beautiful Coromandel Peninsula is about 170km drive from Auckland. The winding road hugs the side of the hills that open out onto a great sea of blue. The Peninsula is the permanent home to about 2000-2500 residents, but each summer this poulation swells ten-fold to between 20,000-25,000 residents as families flock to the bays to camp, fish, walk and relax. |

| | Not only is the pohutukawa tree fun to say, it is also a very stunning plant that flowers in summer (often known as a New Zealand Christmas bush). You can find it all over the coastline- a nice contrast to the blues and greens. |
