The Old Town- sehr schurn
Well as I type this I´m in Salzburg itself, the weather is warm making it the most lovely eveing to have dinner somewhere in the old town with views of the Schloss. I´ve been here 4 days now and have absolutely loved it!

So Salzburg orgianally belonged in Bavaria (perhaps that is why the Salzburgian brew Stiegl is so tasty) and then became its own country being ruled by the Archbishop. It's land was a wealth of salt and other minerals, and hence it was quite a desirable place to own. It tempted Napolean on his 'European Adventure' and after his army killed the leader of the Salzburg army the place became French. This rule lasted 2 years until the Russians whipped Napolean's army. Napolean returned to France but was captured by the Brittish and was put on the island. It was then, in 1816 that Salzburg became Austrian.
Hiking Salburger Hochthron
Salzburg is a place to spend more than a few days. It has it's lovely city and idylic Schloss to explore as well as being at the North East foot of the Alps (the mountains are smaller ranging from 1800-2000m)- a good place to do a few hikes. If you like Mozart or The Sound of Music, then you need to extend your stay further as Salzburg is home to both of these.
Salzburger Nockel- yum
The map i purchased to choose hikes was the Kompass map 1:3500, Salzburg und Umgebung, map 017. It came along with a Lexikon for the area...but it was in German which i am nicht so gut at
