Christchurch is a wonderful, easy going place to spend some time. The city centre offers some good shopping, some great pubs, and is hugged by the Avon River. The botanics are lovely, the air is clean and people are lovely (we'll i amy be a bit biased as the people include my family).
To the North you can see the impressive Alps which are snow capped through a lot of the year.
To the South is the Port Hills which are excellent to walk in. I have spent a lot of time taking the trails as my Nan used to live at the base of Mt Vernon. There are also some great mtn bike trails and a gondola for those who like to be transported up. The Port Hills give you a great view of the city, and from a top you can see into Littleton Harbour and Diamond Harbour.

I visit an elderly friend in Brigton each time I'm in C'C. Next time I'm definitely going to make time for that wetland area - I love areas like that. Thanks for the tip. leyle |
