SIMPLY THE BEST SNORKELING SPOT I haven't ventured into scuba diving but I am hooked on snorkeling. I have seen the shallow water corals of Puerto Galera and Boracay but in my opinion Bohol is the best of the three. In Bohol Island, the best spot is the Balicasag Island.
Balicasag Island could be reached in 30 minutes from Panglao Island. The first time i went to Alona Beach, I immediately noticed the green dot and I was told that it was Balicasag Island.
The first time I went there, I simply explored the island which is hard at all as the whole island could be covered by foot in 20 minutes. I simply walked along the shore then went inland. The island has white sand but not as fine as the white sand in Alona Beach. There is only one resort in the island and I was told that the it is best diving/snorkeling site. |
| | THE LIGHTHOUSE OF BALICASAG There stands a new lighthouse in the island. From Alona Beach the red light could be seen flickering in the dead of the night. |
MARINE SANCTUARY The success of maintaining and preserving the reefs in Balicasag Island is the regulated fishing imposed therein. The whole island had been designated as a marine sanctuary. Even in shallow waters, some big fish like jackfish could easily be spotted. | | |
