When we went to Portoroz, Slovenia for a week last year, I hadn't intended to go to Ljubljana. As
Kristina wasn't there, it just wouldn't seem right.
However, my curiosity got the better of me and when I found a tour going to the city for the day, I couldn't say no. I know it is a very touristy thing to do, get on a coach and listen to someone tell you about the countryside in three different languages, but I really enjoyed my brief visit.
Actually, I have to confess, I really fell in love the place. It was such a relaxed atmosphere for a city - not a place that jumps out and grabs you and demands your attention, just a place that gently offers it's beauty in the hope that you will accept it.
It is a small place and in the couple hours I spent there, I covered most of the old part of the city in that time, just walking around. I loved the Art Nouveau buildings, the tree-lined river and the calmness of the place.
