  • Yeah, I know, usually metropolis by the sea don't have nice beaches and water is not that clean. Well, forget it all about Rome. Rome's seaside is wonderul and very romantic. You can easily reach the many seaside areas by subway or city trains.

Best beaches are between Ostia and Torvajanica: it's a long series of public beaches called CANCELLI (gates) just by a national park. Water is very clean, beaches are wide and huge, free and full of restaurants and snack bars. My favourite one is the last beach southward before Torvajanica: it's named Capocotta and its for naturists.

Most popular beaches are the private ones in Ostia, the easiests to reach by public transportation.

Good beaches in areas named Fiumicino, Fregene and Torvajanica too.

  • Trust Ever is a funny way we romans use to call a very special area named Trastevere. All romans love that area, and tourists who won't spend one evening or night there, won't be allowed to say "I saw Rome". Just reach Ponte Sisto (Sisto's Bridge) walking from Piazza Navona or Campo de' Fiori, cross it and get lost in those thousands romantic, hot, unique small streets, amazing squares, cradle of artists, typical restaurants and shops. THAT is Rome, St. Peter is just the Vatican!

  • "Il Giardino Degli Aranci" is for sure the most romantic location in Rome. Tourists usually don't go there because they don't know it, I don't think it's on touristic guides. It consists in this terrace garden full of trees of oranges where young (and not) couples go to have the most romantic walk you may have on this planet, expecially with sunset's lights. If you're single, you'd better not to go there, you'd be the one single there, and you may have deep sadness attacks! To reach it, just take subway line B Circo Massimo stop and climb the small street up on the Aventino hill.

  • If you're planning to go to Rome with your partner or kids or both, you're probably been told to go to the "Bocca della Verità". This is a marble face with an open mouth. The legend says that you have to put your hand inside its mouth and say something important. If you are lying, your hand will be bit off! So, guys, pay attention! If you're not been faithful to your partner try to find any reasonable excuse to skip it! To reach it, subway line B Circo Massimo stop, walk towards the river, then just ask, everyone knows where it is... expecially one-hand-people...

  • Circo Massimo was the stadium of the Empire Age were horses used to ride. Nowadays its this big field and its wonderful because it's surrounded by: the ancient market on the right, the Aventino hill on the left, the river in front and by the Caracalla and Colosseo on the back. It's in the middle of the central area, you can reach it by subway line B Circo Massimo stop. My advice is to go there on sumemrtime's nights, lay down on the grass and, if you're with your partner, give some of those kisses that will remain in the history... ahahah

  • "Il Borgo" is a central famous area. It's not that touristic altough it's close to the Colosseo. Borgo means something like small town or quarter and it's one of the oldest and attractive areas of my wonderful city. There are some incredible streets like Via del Boschetto or Via dei Serpenti where you can see and meet the real Rome and Romans. Full of small typical shops, it will give you the idea of an indipendent town inside a metropolis, and whatever you need you can easily find it there. So shop owners are super friendly and they will soon become friends, shops are particular and very often they sell handmade stuff. Even grocery shops are "human", no hypermarkets here. Wondeful fountains, involving buildings... go there and fall in love with Rome, the Eternal City.

Wonderful Roma page! I love the Pellacchia bar on Via Cola di Rienzo for their ice cream too! Each time I am in Roma I make sure I go there at least two times!
