  • Nightlife Spot: Koi

Koi is a Japanese restaurant which was only opened in December 2005. The bar is an ideal place for early drinks and people watching definitely. The night I went was Saturday and there was a long queue of people trying to get into the bar, I didn't have a clue what the queue was for since the bar didn't look that packed. So when I asked the bar manager what was that about, he said it was a model's night and models are entitled to 6 free drinks plus dinner on the house! When I looked around, it was like 90% of the patrons were models, so I continued to ask how the owner managed to make any profit at all especially when I was told that model's nights run every other days! Apparently, Koi is only the owner's side business and it's not meant to make any profit. I wish we have such business mentalities in HK!

I was looking forward to have some sake but unfortunately, they don't serve it in the bar, think it's too troublesome to warm the sake up etc when I asked. Yes surely there are lots of beautiful young models loitering around but the drinks definitely weren't budget travellers.

  • Nightlife Spot: Bed Supperclub

It's full of tourists but is not a bad place to hang out. It's in Sukhumvit so is conveniently located. I'd prefer Club Astra in RCA cos' they tend to have good international DJs playing there. The good thing was there was no cover charge when I went but perhaps it's because it was almost 1am already and you know most places close at 2am on the dot and it's no exception for Bed neither, so what you do after that? Think it's time to go to bed!

It was a mistake. I wanted to go to SILOM Soi 4 but the driver took us to Sukhumvit Soi 4 Nana Plaza instead!! It's a place excellent for men but intimidating for women. Found this decent sports bar with 2-storey at the end of the Soi called Bus Stop opposite all the pool bars which was okay, apart from the patrons were all men having out with their professional gfs. So if you ever come across to Nana Plaza with your gf but still want a quiet place to have a drink or two. Go to this bar.

The Dome / Sirocco: Drinking on top of Bangkok

  • Nightlife Spot: The Dome

WOW!! That's our impression when we were walking down the steps leading to the bar. The view was just amazing. I didn't expect such a stunning view in Bangkok at all. The Dome and the restaurant Sirocco are on the top of The State Tower. A few minutes walk away from Shangri-la, this is the must place to visit. Honestly, I have been to the New York Bar in Tokyo and I was stunned by the beautiful view but it's much much nicer in The Dome. The circular bar is situated next to the restaurant. I hope you are not afraid of height because the glass fences around the bar aren't that high. Drinks are reasonably price here. I was told that the restaurant served okay food but it's expensive. Advance booking is not required for the bar but is recommendable if you plan to eat in Sirocco.
