Pokhara valley is one of the most pictureque spots of Nepal. The beauty of the valley is enhanced by its lovely lake Phewa, Begnas an Rupa, which have their source in the glacial region of the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Pokhara situated 200km west of Kathmandu and at an altitude of 827m from the sea level which make it lower than Kathmandu itself. For mountains viewers, Pokhara offers the magnificent view of five peaks of Annapurna and others. Pokhara is one of few places in the world to provide such a dramatic view in a subtropical settings. Machhapuchhre for example, is only 28km from city centre and not single mountain range intervenes between the two. Pokhara's numerous lakes, known as Tal in Nepali offer fishing, boating and swimming. |
