Growing up Floridian I was born in Orlando and my parents moved to Tampa when I was 2 years old. I grew up in Sulphur Springs (right by the tower) and my parents still live in that house. When I was in highschool Ybor was the ONLY place to go for some sort of "night life". Now, they've renovated it quite a bit and they've built up Channelside and the Hyde Park/ Soho are of south Tampa. I went to college (on a full athletic scholarship- volleyball) at the University of Georgia and loved my 4 years in Athens. I stayed in Atlanta and taught for 3 years, but I always missed being close to the beach. I am happy to be back in Tampa and will begin my 8th year teaching at Tampa Prep and my 11th year as a teacher. I am always amazed at how Tampa has grown over the years. For me, being close to the water is important and it's nice that there are now more things to do in Tampa in addition to going to the great beaches. |

ave you ever been on the historic house walk in hyde park? it goes ainto some history of bayshore that's really interesting. |
