Lots of cruise ships

Was staying in Haines and took the Chilkat fast ferry over for a day. Would recommend the trip. 35 minute ferry ride thru wonderful Lynn Canal. Haines provided a quiet interlude from the crowds of Skagway and Juneau.

Great train ride thru some marvelous scenery. Caught the train from the main railway station between the two cruise ship docks. Did the round trip to the summit. Took four hours. If you're on the inside going up (right side of the train), don't worry. You swap with the other side of the car and flip your seat over for the trip back down. That way everyone gets a chance to see the great vistas.

On the ferry back to Haines

Here we are back on the Chilkat fast ferry leaving Skagway boat harbor heading back to Haines. Ready for some peace and quiet after a day of rubbing elbows with 8,000 cruise ship passengers.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Lots of gold rush history, great train ride
Cons:Gets a tad bit crowded when the cruise ships are in

Amazing train trip I see. I would like to get it. But probably I have to choose what not to visit:Haines or Jeaneau or Skagway. It's always hard decision.
