Gateway to Connemara and the western Gaeltacht

Great Nightlife and Food

Pedestrian Only Streets in Galway
Not only is Galway the gateway to Connemara and the western Gaeltacht, it is a fun seaside town in it's own right. Lots of college students keep the place lively late into the evening.

I've had some of my best meals in Ireland in the pedestrian only downtown portion of Galway. The pedestrian-only streets bring out the street performers as well.

Also found the shopping here to have some great low prices, especially in the off season, and it is a great spot to buy original Irish art and jewelry.

And you are close to the Burren and the Cliff of Moher, both must see sights.
