Habesos is the earliest name of the ancient city but it is more normally called Antiphellos as it was the harbour of ancient Phellos.Findings show settlement back to the 4th century B.C.
It reached its height during the Roman and Byzantine periods and was famous for its sponges.
The Seljuks renamed it Andifli when they ruled the area but it has been called Kas meaning eyebrow or something curved since the Ottomans took over.

It seems the square down by the Marina is the place to hang out and with its glut of bars,cafes and shops it seems a good idea. Diving is my best reason for coming here with lots of dive sites to choose from and as most centres come back at lunchtime, you can dive just the morning or afternoon.

Popular is a trip across to the Greek island of Kastellorizo or Meis in Turkish, or a glass bottomed boat trip down to Kekova.
Popular and most shady place in the centre is Noel Baba tea house/cafe, serves most drinks and snacks.
