Lycian rock tombs,Kaunos and Turtles

Most famous for its' turtle watching and the scenic trip down the to the river mouth through the reed beds,passing rock cut tombs on the opposite hillside and the archaeological site, Kaunos.Since i first visited 15 years ago the town of Dalyan has grown quite a bit with lots of pensions for the budget traveller.November saw most of the town wet and half shut,with very few visitors.There are a couple of thermal mud centres also on the opposite bank.Don't worry about turning up and not finding a boat as there are lots to choose from.

2 dive centres in town, with some nice dive sites.

There's a free local paper when you get here to find out what's up and coming in English and Turk.Dalaman airport is only a short 30 minute trip away. Ortaca is 15 minutes away if you want to go by bus. Bus from there to Fethiye cost 6Ytl and took 85 mins.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Small and friendly.
Cons:Not much to do in town.
In a nutshell:Go and enjoy the area.

Was thinking of returning to Greece this summer but after looking at your pages I am tempted by Turkey! I'd love to see a turtle! :)
