Just another tall office building from the outside, BCE Place has a remarkable atrium running through the main floor. In fact it’s so unique, that movies and commercials often use the location as a backdrop (Gattaca, Dracula, Tommy Boy). Stop by and have lunch in the basement food court and next time you’re watching TV you might be able to shout out “hey, I’ve been there”. Address: 161-181 Bay Street General Area:Downtown bounded by Yonge Street to the east, Wellington Street West to the north, Bay Street to the west, and Front Street to the south.

Canadian’s are a bit nutty about Hockey the way that Europeans and South Americans take a strong interest in soccer (football) . To see what some of the fuss is about or to see some of the pilgrims paying homage to one of their high alters, visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. Address: 30 Yonge Street

High Park is a long and narrow park. The south end is bounded by Queen street and holds a lake giving the area a wetlands appearance. The north is bounded by Bloor street and shows off more of the hilly terrain that dominates the park. Within the North half is the Grenadier restaurant and a small outdoor (organic) farmers market. The roads and pathways can be disorienting so the restaurant makes a good starting point and has a large parking lot if you’ve driven and would like to do some walking. Address: 1873 Bloor Street W

Just east of the airport is a horse race track and casino. The horse racing is either live or simul-cast from another race track. Under the race track seating is a casino featuring 1700+ slot machines but no table games. Now that the casino shares the facility, there is no charge for parking and there are even periodic parking lot shuttles that pick you up from near your car and whisk you to the front door. Along Derry East of the 427 Gambling problem? Please call (416) 366-7613 (Toronto).

36waterfalls Tue Nov 6, 2007 13:52 UTC This is a great overview of the road less travelled! Really good tips, thanks for the public transport ones, much appreciated! | Bwana_Brown Fri Sep 28, 2007 13:23 UTC Very useful tips and great photos of Toronto! I had a laugh at your driving tips, especially because I was able to avoid any mishaps on my most recent trip - even avoided traffic jams! My brief tour of downtown made me want to linger longer next time. |
