...and I didn't even like it at first. ...but then I visited again and I my heart has melted into the tranquil paradise that is life in Phuket. |
| The view point between Rawai and Kata. |
| | My favorite flavor of Phuket Rawai is where I live. It's the southern most beach in Phuket. Most tourists flock to Patong, Karon, and Kata. Rawai is only a beautiful 7 minuet drive from Kata beach. The people in this neighborhood are a mellow combination of expatriates and Thai artist. There are several art galleries here, lots of restaurants, and relaxed bars. The tourists that stay in this area are usually ones looking for the ultimate relaxation plan. It's quiet, it's close to the beach, and the locals are very welcoming and warm hearted, unlike many you may come across in the heavily touristy areas. |
In bigger nutshell From lush rubber plantations and the deserted beaches of Nai Yang to the exotic hustle of Patong, to the tranquil and beautiful neighborhood of Rawai, Phuket has escapes, adventures, and overall amazing memories for everyone on the planet. | | |

| Pros: | "Relaxed neighborhoods, markets, always something to do." | | Cons: | "Monster Hotels and sex tourism (easily escapable though)" | | In A Nutshell: | "Rent a motorbike and explore the island for what it's worth and prepare for heart melt!" |

chutha Mon Oct 5, 2009 14:46 UTC I support your view against the cruelty on animals for human's pleasure. There must be a better way (at least) in doing this. ...thinking... thinking .. | TheView Fri Jan 16, 2009 20:40 UTC Tx for the nice tips. I am thinking on a trip to Thailand backpacking around the countryside. ;-) Hope your dog is doing fine. | BillNJ Fri Jan 16, 2009 18:31 UTC I would love to visit Thailand. I don't know the Thai language, but I like the Thai singers Palmy, Kat English, Buachompoo Ford, and Nicole Theriault. I wish we had entertainers like them in the States! | betska Tue Sep 30, 2008 09:56 UTC I very much agree with your warning tip on elephant cruelty. We visited Kok Chang near Kata Noi small view point and thought they were doing a great job. Wonder if those white-palmed gibbons are still there-Charley and Lum Yai-such sweet little monkeys! |
