|  | My favorite flavor of Phuket Rawai is where I live. It's the southern most beach in Phuket. Most tourists flock to Patong, Karon, and Kata. Rawai is only a beautiful 7 minuet drive from Kata beach.
The people in this neighborhood are a mellow combination of expatriates and Thai artist. There are several art galleries here, lots of restaurants, and relaxed bars.
The tourists that stay in this area are usually ones looking for the ultimate relaxation plan. It's quiet, it's close to the beach, and the locals are very welcoming and warm hearted, unlike many you may come across in the heavily touristy areas. |

I very much agree with your warning tip on elephant cruelty. We visited Kok Chang near Kata Noi small view point and thought they were doing a great job. Wonder if those white-palmed gibbons are still there-Charley and Lum Yai-such sweet little monkeys! |
