"Perth" Perth by sunshinejo

I spent a month in and around Perth in December 2004, and absolutely loved the place, I was so sad to leave. I don't know exactly what it was that I liked so much, but from the moment I arrived I knew I'd enjoy myself here. Most of my time there I was staying in the beach suburb of Cottesloe, which is such a beautiful area. This is where I passed Christmas and New Year with a wonderful group of people I met at my hostel, which I think makes the place more special to me.

The people here are so warm and friendly - even by Australian standards! - and there's a very relaxed atmosphere, which I loved. The one thing I really didn't like about Perth, is how cut off it is, both from the rest of Australia and the rest of the world! I believe it's the most isolated city in the world.

• Pros:Beautiful, great climate, and you can be sure of a warm welcome!
• Cons:It's a bit of a trek to get here!
