"Switzerland" a Verbier Travel Page by cocoandsami

In Feb, i was lucky enough to combine a work trip with 4 days of skiing. What really made it special, was i met my brother and father in Switzerland to go skiing - Mom stayed in Australia to look after the babies.

I spent three days driving around the West of Switzerland. I landed in Zurich, and spent Sunday afternoon wandering around the town. Found a lovely little cafe in the old part of town, just behind the church.

I have mostly skied in Australia or North America, and have thoroughly enjoyed this, and never really had desires to come to Europe to Ski. However, after experiencing Verbier, i think i am addicted to European skiing. Which is rather convenient considering i am now living in Europe :)

I will hunt through my notes and see what i can find regarding suggestions etc.

We rented a little Chalet (it was little) from some lovely people David found on line. (We, being my brother, father, David and Andrew) The only drawback, was the chalet was a fair bit out of town, and the buses stopped at 19.30 each night.

Whilst i was there we had 4 days of brilliant sunshine (by this stage i had experienced few days of sunshine in Holland, and was really missing it).

Verbier is Huge, I think in the four days (3 were skiing days) I was there, the only run i skied more then once was the home run. Nearly every other run was new each time. Even then, i suspect i only saw 1/2 of the mountain.

The snow was lovely and crisp. Not a lot of powder (not like i have experienced in the back bowls of Vale, Colorado). The runs varied from very easy to difficult,, with the most difficult part at the top of the glacier. However, once committed to this, it wasn't that difficult (strange how once you are committed to a run, it doesn't look as daunting. The trip to the top of the Glacier is well worth it
