    • You should definitely go to the beaches...there are plenty of them. The problem will be deciding which one to go to.

    Also, there are wonderful things to see in Newport, along the southern shoreline, Westerly, Watch Hill, and up into the western part of the state, which is rural and beautiful.

    • The Capitol of Rhode Island is Providence -- the entire downtown area has been renovated and it is really nice. There is Waterplace Park in the summer (check Pawtuxet's page to see a pic of Waterfire and one of the gondolas in the center of the city), where they hold concerts, and in the winter they have a ice skating rink bigger than Rockefeller Center's. There is the Providence Performing Arts Center and the Trinity Theater, as well as the Rhode Island School of Design museum, just to name a very few of the things to do and see. Call the Providence Tourism Council at 800-562-9895 for more information on Providence.
