Aren't we slick... We arrived in New Delhi at 11am on a Thursday. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, and we needed to be on a train to Tamil Nadu by the next day. From the airport in New Delhi, we hopped in a taxi and drove to the Inda Rail central ticketing office and somehow found the tiny little room where we picked up our train tickets which A. had booked online a few weeks before. Then, we bargained with a motorcycle to take us to the train station that would get us to Agra. Caught the train, got to Agra, jumped out negotiated with a motorcycle-cab to get us to the West gate...got there at 5pm, just 1 hour before closing time!! So, from the airport to the Taj in just under 6 hours without a guide or ever having been to India before. Yup, we're pretty proud of ourselves... |
