...but aren't we all?

A fun walk to the bus stop
I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but I'm originally from Pennsylvania, which explains why I'm a winter person. There's only so much sunshine I can take.

I love this picture (credit goes to my dad). It's the street I grew up on, after an ice storm. Notice the tracks--yes, we drove right through it.

Mountain Laurel

...is the state flower of Pennsylvania.

The world needs ditch-diggers too

I'm an archaeologist. I travel a lot for work, mostly around New Mexico--I am getting to know every mountain, valley, and teeny tiny town in the state--but sometimes other states, too. The picture is from a survey project in the Mojave Desert a few summers ago--hope my coworkers don't mind being on the internet. When it's hot out, we usually start work as soon as the sun is up, so this picture was taken at about 6 am. A survey project means that we do a pedestrian survey of a certain area--i.e. hike across it, systematically, scanning the ground with your eyes. So basically I hike for a living (but looking down the whole time--missing all the scenery) and once in a while I get to dig.
Hey, what are you guys looking at?

My favorite thing

...is snowboarding. So far I have only ridden mountains in the U.S., but I hope to ride Europe, South America, New Zealand, and Asia (I hear Kashmir rocks). Of course, I plan to do a lot of non-snowboard travel, too.
