This is the view from one of the skii lifts at Heavenly. During summer, you can also go up Heavenly via the Heavenly Gondola (tickets sold right on downtown Lake Tahoe, at the Marriott plaza, you won't miss it). There are several weeks right after winter where the gondola is not operational though (like sometime late April/May)

Lake Tahoe is a year-round destination. The lake and everything around it offers amazing view all year round. In the summer, you can see the blue lake nestled amidst the green pines and gray rocky-mountains. In the winter, the pine trees are decorated with snow and the mountains turn white. In the summer, you can mt bike on trails around the area or hike to the Sierra peaks, enjoying the wonderful vistas all around you. You can drive around the lake, stop and enjoy the wonderful small lakeside towns, jetskii or kayak in the lake, or just relax in the sand. In the winter, it's skiing and snowboarding - from wonderful long beginner runs all the way to advanced black runs. Year in and year out, this is one of my favorite destinations! Flume Trail is a true classic mt biking trail. Years had gone by and this is still a must-do for mt bikers. The trail is not difficult (I'm a beginner and was able to go) but the views are awesome.
