Day 15 and counting.... | View from a Buddhist Monestary towards the valley |
Mongolia was a place that I thought I would never in a million years ever visit. It is the edge of the earth and in the middle of nowhere... As I trekked south and east, they area became more and more desolate as the amenities became fewer and fewer.......When I stepped off the train it was not at all like I expected. Ullaanbataar was very clean and modern. It is trying to quickly catch up with its more western trading partners....The roads were quite good and there very litte trash in the streets. The train station was quite nice too. We were met by a very pretty and nice, english speaking student from te travel agency. That helped alot. I would recommend going in the summer to anyone interested however, as it was quite brown and dry in Feb. The whole of Mongolia turns green after the rains. |
