Financial District Park Zoos and Parks Review

Most cities, especially those associated with big business, tend to emphasize just how green and liveable they really are. I suppose that Frankfurt doesn’t feel that necessary, as I have had a rather difficult time finding out about this wonderful green space along Junghofstrasse after stumbling on it on my way back from the Alte Oper. It was winter, so the trees and shrubs were not green or in bloom, and there are was rather muddy and grey. Nevertheless, this expanse of green and parkland provides a nice break to the city’s financial district, and I suspect that it is used by more than a few of the office towers’ occupants to escape from the monotony of their desks.

Kleinmarkt

Kleinemarkt, or the Small Market, is a bit of home-style comfort in the middle of a city that is, for the most part, associated with international finance and commerce. This market is, obviously, not the main one for the city, but it does offer a glimpse into the everyday life of the people who live in the centre of this German metropolis. Do not expect to find German farmers bringing their produce into town at this market. Many of the stalls are dedicated to specialty and imported foods, although there are plenty of other ones that sell traditional German products, including sausages, cheeses and smoked meats. It’s a great way to practice your German if you’re learning about fruits, vegetables and the names of other foods, and otherwise a perfect option for those looking for a hearty snack.
