CPH was much bigger than I thought. It rook me a while to get a feel for it. Splitting it up into manageable areas really helped. It’s a city of neighborhoods, each has something to offer, and each is almost self-contained in themselves.
The first thing that struck me was how many people ride bikes here. You ‘hear’ it’s a big city for biking, but when you actually see it you will be floored by how many people are out riding around. Men, women, young, old, in jeans or short skirts or office attire are riding around here and there and everywhere.
The bikes they ride are varied too. Most have these big baskets on front, either metal or wicker. Some are built so you can put a kid or two or a few bags of groceries in this area attached to the front wheel. For 8 good examples, check out Raz's page on Rickshaw bikes.
All types of bikes really made you feel you were somewhere different than where you live. All that biking….no wonder I only saw about 2 overweight people in this city (and they were probably Americans! ;) ).
One main part you’ll probably end up is in the worlds-longest pedestrian mall, called Stroget. There are other smaller ones right off of this too. I love the pedestrian malls, and this is a good to walk in for a day or two. It has everything you’d think, plus some things you wouldn’t think of. Note, a lot of the stores are closed on Sundays—mostly the clothing ones.
- Pros:Cyclist heaven, great bakeries, pedestrian-friendly

Enjoyed your transportation tip! Def. a special one! And also liked the Laundromat Café tip!
Mmmm I love Danish pastries.
Good tips and photos. Yes, that hotel room is small! But, when you are on vacation, how much time do you actually spend in your room? Looks like a good deal. Cheers from New Jersey, Bill
And you give this woman money?
We're finally getting some warm weather back, into the upper 70's today! I miss the freezing 40's and 50's of winter! hehehe
Hi Tom, thanks for your page, researching possibilities for our next trip, see you want to come downunder to Australia, you will be amazed with what is available, even bikes.
BTW I know the sports teacher of the college where 80% this kids comes from. She told me that one day a class she was asking to what they did like to learn in sport. " one kid throw and run very farst" lol ;-)
enjoyed your page, good tips. Happy birthday
Yes, I've always heard Copenhagen is a great cycling city. Can't wait to go there! I think that must be the new opera house in the middle of your first Marble Church photo, out in the distance by the harbor.
You're no potato, more of a fine asparagus! ;o) Hey... great Cph page Tom. I see you found some funky urinals too.
