As in most west african francophone countries the people are really friendly in Togo. No fear in meeting the locals. Of course it does help enormously if you speak French. |
| | Although Lomé is generally a hassle-free and enjoyable city, believe it or not, people do get friendlier the further north you travel. Sokodé and Kara are really nice places to visit. |
I met this fellow in Togoville. Didn't speak any French at all, then I realised he was raving on in a sort of English. Finally told me that although Togolese, he had worked most of his years in Ghana and had never learnt French at all. Very friendly chap, which turned into a big drink with him when he asked my name, and when told came out with one of the biggest smiles I'd ever seen. His first name was Paul, same as me!!! | | | Paul and Paul in Togoville |
