Rocky Mountain National Park

The only real reason to go to Estes Park, CO is that it is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. We visited in Mid-September and the aspens were beginning to change and the elk were coming down from the mountains for mating season. At night and early in the morning you could hear the elk bugling. Bear Lake Road and Trail Ridge Road were magnificent drives, especially early in the morning when the sun's light was not harsh. There were a wild variety of trails to hike and places to visit. It was a photographers dream with always something to photograph.

Estes Park, CO

The actual town of Estes Park, CO is very nice and, of course, a tourist trap. There are many shops and restuarants, some good and bad, located all over town. We recommend Penelope's Hamburgers, Sweet Basilico, and Notchtop Bakery for a great bite to eat.
