Some of my friends from Spain and me decided to have a small trip to any European city not far from Paris, where I'm currently living. After some discussions and votings we thought Amsterdam could be a good place to go and it was pretty true!
In fact Amsterdam is not a big city and it's possible to visit it quite well in just 3 or 4 days. It is worth to take a time to stroll around its canals, its streets to admire the typical inclinated houses, its parks...

En realidad Ámsterdam no es una ciudad muy grande y es posible visitarla muy bien en sólo 3 ó 4 días. Merece la pena tomar un tiempo para pasear por sus canales, sus calles para admirar las típicas casas con la fachada inclinada, los parques... |
|  | The Dutch Constitution mentions "Amsterdam" and "capital" only in one place, so Amsterdam is supposed to be the capital city of The Netherlands, but in fact the seat of the Royal Family, the Parliament, the Government, Supreme Court and even Embasies are not in town, but in The Hague! Amsterdam is not even the capital of its province, North Holland, which is Haarlem. One way or another there is no doubt Amsterdam is the most important city in the country and the real heart of it with is nearly 750.000 inhabitants.
The coats of arms is full of symbollogy. It consists of a red and black shield with three silver Saint Andrew's Crosses, the Imperial Crown of Austria, two golden lions, and the motto of Amsterdam.
La Constitución holandesa menciona "Ámsterdam" y "capital" en un sólo artículo, por lo que se supone que Ámsterdam es la capital de los Países Bajos, pero en realidad la sede de la Familia Real, del Parlamento, del Gobierno, del Tribunal Supremo e incluso de las Embajadas no está en la ciudad, sino en La Haya. Ämsterdam no es ni siquiera la capital de su provincia, Holanda Septentrional, que es Haarlem. A pesar d etodo esto no cabe duda que Ámsterdam es la ciudad más importante del país y el verdadero corazón del mismo con sus cerca de 750.000 habitantes.

The city is placed is in the Northern part of the country, in the province of North Holland. It's 20 kilometres from the province capital Haarlem, and 61 kilometres from The Hague, the seat of Goverment.
It's so easy to reach Amsterdam from the neighbouring countries by train or road and even from America or Asia by plane. In fact my first two times in Amsterdam was in a scale from Madrid to Chicago in Schiphol International Airport.
La ciudad se encuentra en la parte norte del país, en la provincia de Holanda Septentrional. Está a 20 kilómetros de la capital provincial Haarlem, y a 61 de La Haya, la sede del Gobierno.
Es muy fácil llegar a Ámsterdam desde los países vecinos, por tren o carretera, o incluso desde América o Ásia por avión. De hecho mis dos primeras veces en Ámsterdam fueron en una escala de vuelo entre Madrid y Chicago en el aeropuerto internacional de Schiphol. | | |
