Baeza, protegida por la UNESCO

The town of Baeza, located in the geographic centre of the province of Jaen, is a city protected by UNESCO since 2003. The borough, famed for the renaissance splendour of its historical monuments, is the hub town for the villages in the western district, as the other "UNESCO city" of Ubeda, and Linares.

In my opinion, Baeza is one of the undercover Spanish's gems. In spite of the city have been declared a humanking heritage it has not a lot of visitors yet. I hardly recommend you yo visit this town and to eat one of the local specialities, all of them with the first quality olive oil.

Baeza is just 48 kilometres from the city of Jaen (the province's capital), and it's close to Ubeda and Linares too.

Lovely page, such wonderful old buildings. Did people come to the Forgiveness Gate to be forgiven for anything in particular?

Great place, maybe I'll manage to visit it on the way to Marbella in May. Great pictures, especially those ones of Convento San Francisco and in off the beaten path tip :-)
