Una de las ciudades españolas más bonitas

Montjuic Palace - Palacio de Montjuic
I had visited Barcelona in 1995 so it was time visit it again one more time. This year I toke a week for holidays and we went to Barcelona to visit a friend there. The experience was amazing and I found the city more fascinating than I remembered it. It's a cosmopilitan city with a lot of wonderful places to visit and enjoy. Its inhabitants are very friendly and helpful and they're very pleased to help you giving some information.

Coat of arms - Escudo
Barcelona is city with 1.500.000 inhabitants but with a metropolitan area of more than 4 million people. It's the second city of Spain and the capital of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. There are people from all over Spain and a lot of foreigners too with a big population of Chinese, Indian, Pakistani and Latin American people.

The Barcelona coat of arms is composed of the arms of the Counts of Barcelona and the Cross of Saint George.

Barcelona is located in the North East part of Spain, pretty near from the French border. It's very easy to arrive here thanks to its international airport with a lot of connections. The high speed train (AVE) is being building also and it will link Barcelona with Madrid in just two hours. The city is 621 kilometres far from Madrid, 349 from Valencia and 1046 from Seville.
When you're in town you can visit some pretty nearly locations, as I did, like Montserrat.

There is a wonderful award winning novel written (in Spanish, but translated into English and other languages) around the building of this cathedral in the 14th century. It is called Cathedral of the Sea (La Catedraldel Mar) by Ifdefonso Falcones
