Marbella is considered one of the most luxury cities in the Mediterranean coast. This town atracks wealthy people from all over the world, mainly Arabs, Russians, Germans and British. The deceased Saudi Arabian King had an impressive house here, for example. In addition this is the place where popular Spanish artists and famous people in general come in summer. The former Marbella's Major, Jesus Gil, was the president of the Atletico de Madrid football club and a popular man himself. He managed increasing the quality of the city and that's why Marbella is a very well-kept city right now, in order to receive such a "glamorous" visitors. But on the other hand this atmosphere is not elegant at all sometimes and it becomes a little bit tasteless.
Se considera que Marbella es una de las ciudades más lujosas del Mediterraneo. Esta ciudad atrae a turistas acomodados de todo el mundo, principalmente árabes, rusos, alemanes y británicos. El fallecido Rey de Arabia Saudí, por ejemplo, tenía una magnifica casa aquí. Además este es el lugar a donde vienen los artistas españoles y la gente famosa en general a pasar el verano. El antiguo alcalde de Marbella, Jesús Gil, era el presidente del Atlético de Madrid club de fútbol y un personaje popular por sí mismo. Él consiguió aumentar la calidad de la ciudad y gracias a ello Marbella es ahora una ciudad muy cuidada, para recibir a estos visitantes tan "glamourosos". Pero por otro lado este ambiente no es tan elegante a veces y pasa a ser un poco "hortera" (de poco gusto). |
|  | But Marbella is a lot of more than this "vain" showcase. It's a city with lots of history, with a lovely old town, with nice parks and gardens, with a lively nightlife and beautiful beaches. I was surprised the first time I went to old town, because this beauty is not usually show when we see Marbella on TV or on the magazines of sentimental stories. Definitely, Marbella worth a visit!
Pero Marbella es mucho más que este "banal" escaparate. Es una ciudad con muchísima historia, con un casco antiguo precioso, con bonitos parques y jardines, con una animada vida nocturna y con playas encantadoras. Me sorprendió mucho la primera vez que fuí al centro histórico, porque no nos muestran esta bonita zona cuando vemos Marbella en la televisión o la prensa del corazón. ¡Definitivamente Marbella merece una visita! |
Marbella has more than 100.000 inhabitants and it´s 57 kilometres far from Malaga, from which airport you can arrive here easily. It's placed in the "Costa del Sol" (Coast of the Sun) and, as any other city here, you can enjoy of a nice weather mostly year round, and to profit both beaches and mountains. Marbella tiene más de 100.000 habitantes y está a 57 kilómetros de Málaga, desde cuyo aeropuerto se puede llegar facilmente. Se encuentra en la "Costa del Sol" y, como en cualquier otra ciudad de esta zona, puedes disfrutar de un buen clima casi todo el año y aprovechar tanto las playas como la montaña. | | |
